Jamberry Nail Application Tutorial

What are Jamberry Nails? First and for most, they are nail wraps made with a non-toxic material that can be applied directly to your nail in the comfort of your own home or even your best friend's house! They are super cute and only take about 15 minutes to apply. Getting your nails done about every 2 weeks or so at a salon can get expensive. The sister's of this company thought the same thing and that is how the company was born. Not only do Jamberry Nails save you money, but they also save you time and they look awesome. Still think your busy lifestyle is too much for these nail wraps? No way! They are super chip resistant and can last up to 2 weeks on fingers and 4 weeks on toes. There are over 250 designs to choose from. You’ll find that one set of shields will do at least 2 to 3 applications! One set costs just $15, so you'll spend about $4 - $5 for a set of nails. Say what!? However, my number one favorite thing about Jamberry Nails is there is no dry time! I am THE WORSE person about being impatient and then just totally screwing up at least one nail making me have to repaint it.

Anyway, enough about that, let me show you the step by step process of applying Jamberry Nails and how easy it is. In this demonstration I am using the Black & White Damask set and Black Floral as an accent nail.

What you will need if you don't have the Jamberry Nails Application Kit ($12.50):

Rubbing Alcohol
Cotton Balls
Cuticle Pusher
Nail Scissors
Nail File
Hairdryer OR A Jamberry Mini Heater ($18.00)

Step 1
Push back your cuticles then clean unpolished nails with alcohol.

Step 2
Match your nail (finger or toe) to the nail wrap that best fits. It is better to choose a wrap that is smaller than a wrap that is too large. If a wrap touches the skin, you are at risk of your nail wrap lifting. I am known to trim my wraps that are obviously too big just so I can get that extra wear out of the set. Also as shown in my photo of this step, I trim around the edge just so I can try to get the best match for my nail as possible.

Step 3
Using tweezers, roll back the sheet and cut the
nail wrap in half. Be careful not to touch the adhesive side with your fingers. This leaves oils on the adhesive and can affect how the wraps stick on your nails. Also take note how stiff the nail sheild is in the photo. That is how the wrap will look before heat.

Step 4
Peel off nail wrap and warm the adhesive side with a mini heater or hairdryer for 3-5 seconds, or until soft and flexible (see photo below and how the nail wrap will curl). Heating cures the wrap making for a longer lasting manicure.

Step 5
When warm, press the wrap onto the nail that best matched. Apply firm pressure around the edges to adhere the wrap to the nail. Use rubber cuticle pusher (or finger) to seal the wrap around the base of the cuticle. Remembering not to touch any skin with the adhesive side of the nail wrap.

Step 6
Trim the top with scissors and file off the remaining wrap using a downward motion to remove excess. Aggressive filing is not needed and DO NOT go in a upward direction or from side to side. Downward only!
Step 7
Apply heat and pressure to the wrap again to ensure there is a strong bond to the nail.

Extra Step for Healthier Nails
To keep your nails healthy and moisturized while wearing your nail wraps, apply our Nail Care Cuticle Oil ($10.00) around the edges of your nails. Make sure the wraps are secure to your nail before applying the cuticle oil. I actually find this process to be important because with even regular nail polish, your nail isn't able to "breathe" as well as it should when unpolished, so adding this cuticle oil keeps your nails from drying out while not being able to breathe.
